Dat was de speech die hij \u00a0in 2005 gaf voor de afstuderende studenten van Stanford University.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Wat opvalt aan die speech is dat hij vaak een contrast als stijlfiguur gebruikt. Met een contrast koppel je twee tegengestelde begrippen logisch aan elkaar. Enkele voorbeelden uit deze speech:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cY<em>ou can\u2019t connect the dots\u00a0<strong>looking<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>forward<\/strong>; you can only connect them\u00a0<strong>looking<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>backwards<\/strong>.<\/em>\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201c<em>If I had\u00a0<strong>never dropped out<\/strong>, I would have\u00a0<strong>never dropped in<\/strong>\u2026<\/em>\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201c<em>The\u00a0<strong>heaviness<\/strong>\u00a0of being successful was replaced by the\u00a0<strong>lightness\u00a0<\/strong>of being a beginner again\u2026<\/em>\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Het mooie van deze stijlfiguur is dat het eerste deel van je zin een opmaat is voor wat komen gaat. Je toehoorders gaan als het ware klaarzitten voor het punt dat je gaat maken en&#8230; luisteren dus met extra aandacht! Zo orkestreer je de aandacht voor jouw belangrijkste punt met als gevolg dat dat punt beter blijft hangen.<\/p>\n<p>Experimenteer zelf ook eens met een contrast en ervaar de kracht.
