If it is a half hour speech, it takes me one week. If I can talk for as long as I want, it requires no preparation at all: I am ready now<\/em>&#8220;. Het is niet gek dat hij tijd nodig had om een tekst binnen een specifieke tijdslimiet te passen. Maar er is een goede reden dat hij juist nog meer tijd nam voor het overbrengen van een korte tekst.<\/div>\n<h2>Jouw publiek heeft meer tijd nodig dan jij<\/h2>\n<p>Heb je 8 minuten om jouw verhaal te delen? Het is natuurlijk heel verleidelijk om alle negentien thema&#8217;s die je wil behandelen in \u00e9\u00e9n alinea te proppen. Jij hebt alle achtergrondkennis al in jouw hoofd, dus andere mensen zullen de strekking van wat je bedoelt ook wel begrijpen. Dat klopt misschien, maar niemand zal het onthouden. Des te meer concepten jij in jouw speech propt, des te minder impact jouw verhalen uiteindelijk op jouw publiek maken. Je doelgroep snapt wel wat je zegt, maar ze hebben toch echt meer woorden nodig om het belang van wat je zegt te begrijpen.<\/p>\n<h2>Kill your darlings!<\/h2>\n<p>Kill your darlings dus! Maar hoe dan? Voor een krachtig en kort verhaal is er \u00e9\u00e9n belangrijk doel dat je in gedachten houdt:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Jouw publiek moet begrijpen waarom jouw verhaal ertoe doet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Welke vraag beantwoord je? Waarom deel je dit verhaal? Schrap alle onderwerpen die niet binnen die lijn passen. Met weinig tijd is het beter om zelfs je favoriete onderwerp voor later te bewaren, als deze niet in het hoofdverhaal past. Als de link naar jouw boodschap niet direct duidelijk is, zwakt het je boodschap af. Kijk daarom niet hoeveel <strong>informatie<\/strong> je in die 8 minuten kan proppen, maar begin je voorbereiding met deze vraag: &#8220;Welk verhaal kan ik <strong>betekenis<\/strong> geven in 8 minuten?&#8221;.
